The first time I ever saw Fight Club, I was in college and watched it in someone on my floor’s dorm room. A girl who would end up being my crazy roommate then took me somewhere else about ten minutes before the movie ended. It wasn’t until I read the book that I found out about the big twist! Same girl also let me see ONLY the last few minutes of The Usual Suspects. And did I mention that she was nuts? Anyway, because she ruined the impact of one of my now favorite movies, and ruined The Usual Suspects for me, I now wish baldness upon her husband (sorry, dude). Wishing baldness upon people or their husbands is my new thing… I don’t want anyone to be HURT, I just want to get a little stinking up their life revenge (haha).

This conversation tonight between Tommy and I cracked me up!
- Tommy: What do you want to do tonight?
- Me: I still want to go see Django.
- Tommy: Well, they have half-off bottles of wine and it's movie night at Wicked Hop. And they're showing Semi-Pro and Baseketball....
- Me: *side eye*
- Tommy: Which are both up against Django for best movie ever made...
- Me: *side eye*
- Tommy: and WINE!!!....
- Hahahahaha.

This is the video I watched to recover from my first viewing of “Requiem for a Dream.”
Here are my overall impressions, since it became a pretty hot topic when I mentioned that I was watching it for the first time last night on Twitter (follow me, please!).
1. Ellen Burstyn did an AMAZING job. Really, everyone in the movie did really well, but I was incredibly impressed with her performance.
2. The makeup was outstanding. As a makeup artist, I am obviously tuned into this, but yeah… They seriously did a great job.
3. The cinematography was very very well-done as well.
4. I feel like this would be a good movie to show adolescents, however maybe a slightly edited version. I have no idea what those lifestyles are like, but I definitely don’t think this was a glamorous portrayal of those involved in drug use! Loved that it showed a couple different types, though (hard to go into detail without giving away the movie).
Overall, I honestly still can’t decide whether or not I liked it. That is usually the sign of a great movie, though. It definitely wasn’t the feel-good movie of 2000, but it was well-done, and I am glad that I saw it, even if I had to watch a video of cute animals before I went to bed! By the way, if you watch that slideshow, feel free to do so on mute. The corny soft rock cover of “My Girl” didn’t really do it for me!
Ok, off for a ten-mile training walk! ;o)

This Caddyshack poster by Daniel Norris is completely amazing, and I want one to hang in my house someday!

Ok, this is really sad, especially since there are plenty of kids who go to the school where I taught that are significantly larger than 2005 Augustus Glub. =(
xoxo,
Last night, Danielle and I had a long overdue hangout session, where I was also able to fulfill my longtime craving for Topperstix (actually, Tacostix) and other fried foods.
As you can see, we took down (well, I had a couple leftover today) a triple order of the stix, and an “appetizer sampler” from Pizza Shuttle, as well as some wine. We forgot to eat the Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream that we ordered, which means I will be going back over there soon - This is great news to me!
We watched two movies I had (sorta) never seen - Garden State and The Usual Suspects.
I really enjoyed Garden State, which somewhat surprised me, because I find Zach Braff pretty annoying on Scrubs (which I find pretty annoying as a whole). I was impressed by the realism… By the fact that I loved and hated both Zach Braff’s and Natalie Portman’s characters, and the fact that they weren’t heroic, perfect people living heroic, perfect lives. It also made me want to look more closely into Braff’s background, because I feel like the story is really creative, unless there is realism somewhere in it. I want to know more!
As for The Usual Suspects, here’s my story. My freshman year of college, I had a roommate I wasn’t too fond of. I came home one day and she and a friend were watching The Usual Suspects, and were almost done. They had both seen it, and knew I hadn’t.
You know that part at the end, where you’re like “HOLY CRAP!” and it all comes together? That was the only part I had seen, until yesterday. I don’t want to go into too much detail, because I don’t want to ruin it for anyone else like it was ruined for me, but I basically have been spending all the time since that day trying to forget the ending that I can’t believe they let me watch. They should’ve told me to wait outside for five minutes!!!
Clearly, I never forgot it, so I watched it yesterday, and it was a great movie, though I still feel as though I’ve been robbed.
Anyway, had a great night, and can’t wait to do it again!

I need to see this.
