SUPER SUNDAY CHICAGO!!!
Yesterday, I went to my FOURTH Super Sunday as a Beachbody coach. It was so incredible - they just keep getting better!
It started out with several coaches presenting what being a Beachbody coach is all about (most of us there were coaches and already knew, but we also brought guests who were interested in hearing more about it), and telling their personal stories about how Beachbody changed their lives.
Here is my coach, Katie, telling her story:
And here’s another teammate, Adam, telling his. At the beginning, they asked everyone to stand if they had lost five pounds or more from Beachbody. (I got to stand!) Then they asked for ten pounds (I had to sit, but my success partner, Kristin stayed standing)…. Then fifteen, then twenty… As more and more people stayed standing, the applause grew and grew, and I have to admit - I got a little teary-eyed! Adam was the last person standing, after losing 110 pounds and counting! Here he is, telling his story about how he decided to make a lifestyle change in order to be a better father for his children.

Next, we gave the guests the chance to try Shakeology. Several people donated Shakeology, lent out their blenders, and donated different ingredients to go along with the Shakeology. Here’s the other volunteers and I in the “Shakeology room.” I’m the one who looks like a Barbie, next to the Superwoman mom who was preparing Shakeology with a baby strapped to her like it was nothing! Moms never cease to amaze me!
After the Shakeology break, we all reconvened in the auditorium to watch the video from corporate with all of the announcements of new products and other news from the company…
Here are a couple highlights -
- There’s a new flavor of Shakeology - Chocolate Vegan! If you click on the title, you can see a humorous video explaining its benefits… I had the chance to taste it, and I loved it! I still preferred the original Shakeology (it’s chocolatey-er, if that’s a real word), but this had a light taste, and is now my 2nd favorite flavor!
- Body Beast is here! It’s a new program designed to build muscle mass, and it also has supplements to encourage muscle growth! Let me tell you, the trainer for it, Sagi, is a BEAST!
- There is a new product that I can’t wait to try - the new Beachbody Skincare Line, Derm Exclusive! I will be posting a video soon about skin and skincare… If this stuff works as well as it does in the video, I will be buying another one right away, to use in my makeup kit!
- Finally, there is improvement on the original chocolate Shakeology… I thought it couldn’t get better, but here’s Darin Olien, one of the creators, explaining how it did!
Since that picture doesn’t do justice, here’s a link to part one of his talk on YouTube. Grab tissues first. You might cry. Look at the channel for parts two and three!
I am SO excited, because he is coming back to Chicago on August 18th for training for Beachbody coaches, and I can’t wait to hear him talk again!
We finished up Super Saturday by taking a picture of all of the coaches in attendance on the stage with Craig Holliday. I am so glad my hair is bright blonde, since I can see myself in this picture because of it! Right in the middle!
The girl I am standing over is two years older than me and walked across the stage at Summit this year because she has earned ONE MILLION DOLLARS through Beachbody - so cool getting paid to help people!
After this, my coach bought a couple rounds of drinks for her team members at a local bar/restaurant. Here we are!
It was an amazing experience, because I got to meet my coach as well as some of my teammates who I’ve been talking on the phone with weekly and communicating with on facebook nearly daily for the first time! It was nuts how not awkward it was… We all recognized each other, and gave each other hugs because we had already been friends a while!
Overall, GREAT day. It is so incredible to be around so many positive people, with one goal in mind - to end the trend of obesity!
Let me know if you want to join us! =D

Scenes from my last training walk…

As you can see, the training schedule is getting pretty intense here! I am doing it out of order, and definitely skipping some of it… Fortunately, thanks to Beachbody, I am in great shape. I just want to walk as much as I can so that I am ready, as walking is a different repetitive motion, and I don’t want to be sore for the event!
I saw these Phlox on my 6.2-mile walk last night, which was incredible! By the way, I must say that I did not know they were Phlox - that was my mom who told me that! They smelled so good!
During my walk, I also got the chance to walk past the Quadracci Pavillion/Milwaukee Art Museum, which is always gorgeous! Here are a few photos!

In the second, you can see an ad for an exhibit I am extremely excited about - my favorite painter is involved! I will definitely be checking that out!
As I traveled North, I also passed the Northpoint Ice Cream stand, which has recently been painted very appropriately for my purposes!
And as I traveled further North, the sky was turning pink over the lake (also appropriate!) and was beautiful, so I snapped a couple of pics!

So that 6.2-mile walk put me at exactly at 45 miles of training so far, which is 3/4 of the event itself! I still have a long way to go, but look forward to every step! Well, almost every step!
Still accepting donations! =)

xoxo,
I’ve begun my 3-Day Training! Help keep me accountable, please!
I’m sure you’re not surprised to see this coming, but this year I am back at it! This will be my fourth time walking in the 3-Day/60-Mile walk to fight breast cancer. My mom is a 4-year survivor, and I walk in the hopes that some day, no one else will have to go through what our family did! Yes, a 60-mile walk is long, and it will be difficult, but it is definitely easier than chemo!

Progress report:
A few weeks ago, I posted a progress report for how I am doing for my training and fund raising for my Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the cure, which is a 3 day, Sixty mile walk to fight breast cancer.
I must be honest and say that I was pretty lazy during Spring break. I definitely walked a couple times, but I forgot to keep track of the mileage! I am sure it was only around ten miles that week, though.
Last week, I got back at it. I also emailed my family and friends to get donations.
Here are my walking totals (I was unable to do the longer walk - these things take time, which I do not have a lot of right now) and fund raising totals.
I will make an effort to post these on Mondays to keep myself accountable.
My mileage total is 35 miles so far in training (plus the ten or so from during Spring break), and so far I’ve raised $370.
I also made tentative plans for a few fund raising events! I will share more about that later, though, when they are more concrete!
Please keep me accountable and help me to reach and exceed my goals!
And remember - if you have $5 to spare or know someone else who would be interested, you can donate at www.the3day.org/goto/Mandie
Thanks so much!

Ugh.
I was indecisive about whether or not to train/walk today, and then took so long to decide that when I finally got the motivation to do it, I wouldn’t have had enough time! I should’ve just immediately gone on tumblr… My dashboard would’ve gotten me on the treadmill right away! =(
There’s always tomorrow, after my back injections!
Progress Report!
I didn’t have the time to do a daily update for all the walking that I did last week, but here’s my little report card!
I edited my copy of my week 16 countdown training - by crossing out all the mileage I did. As you can see, in the first week of training, I walked a total of 22 miles.
Add my three from yesterday, and I am at 25 miles total. That sounds like a lot, but I do almost 20 miles a day when I am actually on the 3-Day, so it’s nothing!
I also added this week’s training schedule, and crossed out what I’ve done. I crossed out today’s already, because I count my P90X workouts as cross training.
The third picture is my fundraising progress. I have raised $135 of my $5000 goal (or $2300 fundraising MINIMUM REQUIREMENT).
Feel free to ask me on facebook or twitter how my training is going. Once grad school is done for the year, I will be keeping everyone updated much more regularly, but time is not something I have an abundance of right now!
And, of course, if you have an extra $5+, I would love it if you donated to my cause (which is walking WAY MORE THAN 60 miles, with a finale of 60 miles in 3 days in Boston in July to fight breast cancer). I’ll put the link below.
