Last night, Danielle and I had a long overdue hangout session, where I was also able to fulfill my longtime craving for Topperstix (actually, Tacostix) and other fried foods.
As you can see, we took down (well, I had a couple leftover today) a triple order of the stix, and an “appetizer sampler” from Pizza Shuttle, as well as some wine. We forgot to eat the Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream that we ordered, which means I will be going back over there soon - This is great news to me!
We watched two movies I had (sorta) never seen - Garden State and The Usual Suspects.
I really enjoyed Garden State, which somewhat surprised me, because I find Zach Braff pretty annoying on Scrubs (which I find pretty annoying as a whole). I was impressed by the realism… By the fact that I loved and hated both Zach Braff’s and Natalie Portman’s characters, and the fact that they weren’t heroic, perfect people living heroic, perfect lives. It also made me want to look more closely into Braff’s background, because I feel like the story is really creative, unless there is realism somewhere in it. I want to know more!
As for The Usual Suspects, here’s my story. My freshman year of college, I had a roommate I wasn’t too fond of. I came home one day and she and a friend were watching The Usual Suspects, and were almost done. They had both seen it, and knew I hadn’t.
You know that part at the end, where you’re like “HOLY CRAP!” and it all comes together? That was the only part I had seen, until yesterday. I don’t want to go into too much detail, because I don’t want to ruin it for anyone else like it was ruined for me, but I basically have been spending all the time since that day trying to forget the ending that I can’t believe they let me watch. They should’ve told me to wait outside for five minutes!!!
Clearly, I never forgot it, so I watched it yesterday, and it was a great movie, though I still feel as though I’ve been robbed.
Anyway, had a great night, and can’t wait to do it again!
xoxo,
These next few weeks are gonna be crazy…
Yesterday, my “little” sister (who is 5’10”) came to visit. We went shopping and I bought her her first pair of heels. The rest of the shopping money I promised her went as a check - this was her 18th birthday present… A shopping spree (just the heels) and a photoshoot. I did her makeup, Michelle did her hair, and Rafal took pictures of the final product. It was awesome. Pictures from her shoot, as well as pictures of us posing in little black dresses afterward shall be coming soon! During the shoot, I got a text from a designer I know.
She wanted to know if today I could come and take the place of a model who bailed on her in a recycled fashion photoshoot for M Magazine. I guess there is a contest going on, and the dresses are going to be in the magazine. So, I did that this morning. Pictures of that should be coming soon, too! My dress was awesome! It was made out of egg cartons and paper bags!
In a bit, I am going to Bikram, and hopefully to bed early, as Tommy and I have a 6am flight to Denver, for my friend Nicole’s wedding! I’m doing the makeup for the bridal party. Of course, I will take pictures of the whole experience!
We’ll get back Thursday night, and probably be exhausted, because who flies back and forth to Denver over the course of a 30-hour period?
On Friday and Saturday, I have a couple potential shoots and meetings, and between now and then, I will be finalizing plans for the shoot on Sunday, for which I am super excited! I’m one of the models, and the MUA for that one!
That shoot is in Madison, and I plan to stay there a couple days, because I have a meeting to attend there as well on Tuesday evening.
Wednesday is free, then Thursday night, I will be off to Ohio with Tommy for another wedding. We will be coming back from that one pretty much right after the reception, because I am doing makeup for a wedding on the 4th… Then that night, I will celebrate my birthday!
I’ll just stop there… All these plans are making me dizzy, which is definitely not a good thing before bikram!
xoxo,
I went to a Cosi the first time I was in NYC, so this picture makes me really nostalgic.
My roommate once, for Christmas or my birthday, bought me a S’More maker. Now I want S’mores!
xoxo,
Mandie
