I know that I already posted this once, but it is definitely something so amazing that it’s worth posting again. It’s my friend Troy’s trailer for a web series he is doing about his travels around the world with his girlfriend. I shall definitely be posting the episodes, too, (or at least links to them) as they come out, so stay tuned.
Watching that, and watching my ridiculous friend Paul’s ridiculous adventures (for example, I was not surprised to see him trading shirts with a man twice his size in a diner), made me think about potentially making little videos of my life.
No, I don’t mean when I am updating my website, or sitting on tumblr, or working out, but when I do cool stuff, like tomorrow (technically today) when I am going to Chicago for a shoot.
I guess in addition to sharing it with friends (and I guess strangers) near and far, it may be something cool to have later when I’m old and not doing these things anymore… Maybe to show my kids/grandkids, etc in the future?
Would anyone watch that? Just curious. And if you’d watch, what would you want to see?
Anyway, feel free to join me in living vicariously through Troy and Paul, and let me know if you’d like to live vicariously through me - a model and makeup artist!
xoxo,
P.S. Would you watch it?
Welp, since I’m unable to edit my website right now (which is 8/8/11), I figured I would go backward through my facebook photo albums and blog important stuff.
So, without further ado, here’s Jamie and Derek’s wedding!
Since the wedding was in Madison, we made a little stop the night before… Gotta love it!

So we had a bit of wine the night before, but were both extremely exhausted, so it was very tame!
It was also funny, because Danielle and I shared a room, which had an adjoining room option, but the door was closed. As we sat and talked and drank wine, we could hear a very familiar, very distinctive laugh coming from next door. It was Jamie! Apparently, her mom was in the room right next to us!
The next day was the wedding, of course. I did Jamie’s makeup, as well as her mom’s (who had never worn makeup ever in her life!), and the mother of the groom!
Jamie surprised Derek by renting a vintage car to arrive in style… Here’s Jamie, Danielle, and I in that sweet car!

I think I look scary, but I love this picture otherwise!
I also must mention that Jamie let us pick out our own dresses, and I mean this to the most extreme extent possible. I believe she said something like “I’m not fashionista. I don’t care if they’re plaid or patterned or whatever. I just want you two in my wedding!” <3
We got SUPER lucky that we found amazing dresses at Boston Store of all places!
Here’s an image from the head table… I thought it was hilarious that Derek had TWO flasks on his person!

And even though I was in the wedding and he wasn’t, Tommy and I coordinated!

It was great to see LL again!

I, of course, wanted a picture with Danielle… And here it is! I love how Chris is in the back, looking absurd!

Remember how in my blog about Dan & Dominika’s wedding, I mentioned that Jamie had launched the bouquet directly into my hands?
Here’s proof!

This picture below was taken for the sole reason of capturing the DJ. He was a family member of Jamie’s, and she was sorta stuck with him. He refused to play some of her selections because he thought they were inappropriate! But, the most important thing to mention was that he is “spinning” from his iPad!

And you know it’s a good time once Tommy’s jacket is suddenly inside-out!

I was too busy having fun to take any more pictures… It was so fun!
And, Jamie and Derek are so cute! I wish I had taken a picture of them!
Danielle had some amazing pictures that would really add to this blog, but I am too lazy to integrate them!
xoxo,
In all the years I’ve been modeling, no one has ever drawn me. Tomorrow, that is about to change. I am super excited that David, an artist in Chicago (the one who drew the image above), is having me pose for him tomorrow. Of course, once I get my high-res copy, I’ll post it!
When we get back, we’re going to the Marquette game for National Marquette Day, then to dinner and out for Sam’s birthday (Rick Rude is spinning at 720).
Sunday’s all about recovery & Bikram (and I can honestly say I’m looking forward to Bikram)!
Looks like another great weekend is on the horizon!

Mandie
31 Days of Thankful, Day 14
Today, I am thankful for DJs. I am surprised it took me this long to thank them!
There was once a time when I didn’t understand why people got excited about certain DJs coming to town, because to me, they all just played popular music, and there was no distinguishing factor between them.
That was, of course, until the first time I saw/heard/met DJ Whiteshadow, which was a very emotional experience! First of all, I disliked him before I gave him a chance, because he came to the club in sweatpants and wearing a grill (he’s like 6’3”-ish and white), so I thought he was ridiculous and wearing sweats because he didn’t respect my beloved MKE club. It was the first time I went out since my mom had gotten diagnosed with breast cancer. Paulie quickly won me over with his skills (I won’t give up the specific sequence he did on here, but I will never forget it!), and at the end of his set, agreed to give me lessons!
I could go into a long story about each of the others pictured, but if I did, this would be a REALLY long blog.
What I will do, however, is list their websites below, so you can find them and download free mixtapes!
Also, I will express my gratitude for their places in my life, whether they are guys I’ve met a couple times or guys whose friendship is so dear that we’ve driven across the country together! Thank you DJs!
xoxo,
Mandie

P.S. Enjoy the free mixtapes and general amazingness!
Today is Graham Funke’s birthday. In addition to being one of the best DJs known to man, he’s been in some pretty sweet commercials.
